What really hurts guild wars is the skill balancing in my opinion. Why do they always have to nerf the skills of popular builds? This game was all about skill combinations, yet they nerf the skills that the game was designed on. It always was "build wars". The PVP community hates the constant changes, so they left, HA is a corpse compared to a year ago (evidence). Everyone complained about IWAY, initially, but IWAY rarely HELD halls, it kicked ass all the up to it, then got beat by more often than not a BALANCED team. This is the point, skills and the use of them were what made the game what it was, the constant nerfing of skills is what made it what it is. I remember when an elite skill was "elite", not just a slightly better skill on the bar. Instead of making skillbars to COUNTER Iway, everyone cried about it, Anet got into a cycle of skill nerfing, instead of saying "SHUT YOUR F'N PIE HOLES AND RUN HEX SPAM, BLIND, SNARES, ETC." They should have kept this game the way they originally had it.....when skills weren't dumbed down to retardation.

It's essentially a singleplayer game already, who cares how many other people are still playing it?

I'm sure some places are dead, but I'm also sure some areas of Guild Wars are still quite alive!

I remember [math] back in the days, then the Iway build became the build everyone ran, essentially everyone knew it, and how to counter it, that is when Iway stopped holding halls, europe had favor practically eternally, and I used to run pugway with anti Iway builds to farm easy fame. The good ol days. (T.T)
Skill updates and "balancing" just aggrivated more people each and every time, I hope GW2 doesn't follow suit, and lets the players use their brains to build new and exciting combos. GW used to remind me of my days playing magic, and building that new deck, or that new skillbar was exciting...no longer. (T.T)

Guild Wars is in great health. There are just a lot of people here who are pissy becuase they got fired from the bank because they were no longer able to embezzle. Nerfs are soooo terribly unfair. How dare they?
For the rest of us who are still able to enjoy the game, realizing it's just a game, it still rocks.
Disclaimer: The above analogy is merely a comparrison of real life events to GW nerfs. I know you don't work at a bank. Relax.

For one, the quote should be "The reports of the death of Guild Wars have been greatly exaggerated." Mark Twain is rolling in his grave.
People are still in Pre-Searing/Shing Jea because it's a chatroom for 12 year olds, which are always abundant. Stay there for a couple minutes, and if you don't go insane by all the gold begging and "OMG SHES HAWT!!!111!!!", I commend you.

Stale outdated graphics and gameplay are what will kill guild wars. Reasonable people can differ as to whether those have happened yet.

Why bash the kids? Do you fail in life so much that you have turned to bashing and stereotyping kids? You think you're the elite shit because you've lived longer? Trust me. I love when I have an intelligent conversation to one [email protected] d0sn't s0und liek dis mang, and find out the person with enough intellectual power to use grammar and sentences was 10-13. I've seen people that are 15+ immature, and need to GTFO and take their PHAIL with them. and OMG SHE HAWT? We all do that. It's not the immature kids doing that only? You ever been in a PUBLIC high school?
Fail I say...just fail....

While I appreciate the irony of someone using "PHAIL" in an argument about intelligence...
I'm 17.

The reason is the many are there for LDoA and to reroll their survivor char if they have died before reaching tier 3 Legendary.Yes GW is possibly dieing in the mid to high end game areas and it is not because they are all spread out it is they all know the fate of GW by now so moving on untill Gw2 if they buy it.There are some that don't want to grind for titles.

Ya GW is NOT dead. Of course some pve areas aren't as active as they used to be. DoA/Urgoz/The Deep seem to be dried up now, but fow, uw, tombs, and slavers exile are still popular. People are still doing missions and quests, althought its much easier now just to go with henchies and heroes because everyone is just so spread out through all 3 and a half campaigns, its hard to find an active mission district.
I've been playing for over 30 months now, and I still love this game and I'm nowhere close to finishing it. It still have yet to officially finish fow (stupid bug), get my drunkard title (halfway there financially), finish off all the quests, and I think I will work on getting several titles such as lb and guardian. Also, after getting my drunkard title I will get more involved in PvP (HA and GvG). I want to win at least hoh once (almost did but lost by 1 sec ) and get some pvp titles.
There is much to do in GW and people should see that. The game is not dead just because some people quit because they got bored. It's still really fun for others and new players coming in. Although by the time GW2 comes out, the popularity of GW1 will most likely drop down significantly and everyone will move to the bigger and hopefully better GW2. GW2 should have the good qualities of GW1 while also improving some of the flaws in GW1 and also attract a lot of new players (make it more like a FREE WoW?). I still think GW1 will still have a few people playing occasionally if the servers are open because some people may want to "relive" GW1.
BTW Zinger and all you other people, dont be so negative :P. You guys can't compare the # of GW players to the # of WoW players, considering they're really completely different. GW is supposed to be a CORPG or something according to ANet

I dont know about Dead. Stagnant yes. Some of the worst things to happen to us in game, are about the best thing to happen to ANET. take botters for instance, On GW's wiki they say they ban about 1000 botters a day, but they purchase new accounts. You think ANET minds them throwing another 20 bucks in their pocket? Especially with no new expansions on the Horizon. They arent going to fund GW2 with Double Alliance weekends thats for sure.
And on a side note go back to playing WoW Scribe! You Roving Narc!

GW died as soon as I beat Nightfall... with 5 toons. and farmed 1 million balthazar faction. Never did quite reach rank3 though, could never find a good pug and unfortunetaly for me, the guilds I pvp'ed with were all retarded.
So i hopped to WoW since May, now I'm enjoying my lvl 70 human MAGE, who are actually powerful unlike elementalists. Ele's i thought were a push over and a joke in here. they were no where near the DPS they should have been at.
I still talk with other GW goers in WoW from time to time, seeing how when my 70 Mage named "Zhed" is seen in trade chat, someone says "how's today going for you, two legs?" and I laugh.
I hope GW2 will blow WoW away because it's hard to let go of that damned game right now.
